We understand that starting ABA therapy can feel new and sometimes overwhelming. Our goal is to make each day structured, supportive, and positive—while also being fun and engaging for your child.

Arrival & Transition

When your child arrives at the clinic, they are greeted by their RBT and supported through a smooth transition into the therapy space. We help children get settled, review their schedule for the day (often using visuals), and ease into activities at their own pace.

One-on-One Therapy Sessions

Most of your child’s day includes one-on-one sessions with a Registered Behavior Technician under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). During these sessions, your child works on individualized goals that may include:

  • Communication and language skills
  • Social skills and play
  • Daily living skills (like following routines or self-help tasks)
  • Emotional regulation and coping skills
  • Reducing challenging behaviors and building positive alternatives

Therapy is highly personalized and broken into small, achievable steps to help your child feel successful.

Learning Through Play

ABA therapy is not just sitting at a table. Learning happens through play, games, movement, and real-life activities. We follow your child’s interests to keep them motivated and engaged while teaching important skills.

Breaks & Movement

Children have regular breaks throughout the day. These may include:

  • Snack and lunch times
  • Play breaks
  • Movement or sensory activities

Breaks are built into the schedule to help children stay regulated, focused, and comfortable.

Group & Social Opportunities

Depending on your child’s goals, they may participate in small group activities to practice social skills such as taking turns, sharing, following group instructions, and interacting with peers.

Ongoing Support & Supervision

BCBAs regularly observe sessions, adjust programs, and ensure therapy remains effective and appropriate. Data is collected throughout the day to track progress and guide decisions.

End of Day & Transition Home

At the end of the day, your child is supported through the transition to going home. The therapy team may share highlights, progress updates, or important notes with you so you stay informed and involved..

We understand that missing school can be a concern for families. ABA therapy is considered medically necessary treatment, similar to speech or occupational therapy, and is prescribed to support your child’s developmental needs. True Colors Autism Treatment Center works closely with Tipton County Schools. For our HomeBound students, Tipton County Schools sends a Teacher to work with your child to help them not fall behind. In addition, they also send Speech Therapists to work with your child, if this is a service that they qualify for with the Tipton County School System. Your child is not considered "Absent" from school when attending ABA with True Colors.

ABA focuses on foundational skills such as communication, behavior regulation, social interaction, and independence—skills that directly impact your child’s ability to succeed in school. For some children, receiving ABA during the school day helps reduce barriers to learning and better prepares them to participate in school in the future.

Early and consistent intervention is strongly supported by research, and addressing these needs now can lead to improved long-term outcomes. Missing school for medical treatment is generally considered an excused absence, and many schools recognize ABA as a legitimate healthcare service.

Your child is not falling behind—they are receiving essential care that supports their growth, learning, and overall success.
